Hey there! How is social distancing going for you? For a homebody like myself it hasn’t been bad. I have noticed though, that being quarantined has sparked numerous social media trends and COVID19-themed dancemoves. These moves include spraying disinfectants all over the body; from head to toe.
However in effort to prevent hairloss and baldness for those engaging in these dances I’ve curated a few more tips.
Let’s Discuss
- Do NOT spray Lysol onto your hair or skin. It may cause skin or scalp irritation, hair breakage and other ill effects. Lysol instructs that you wash your hands after each use because of its contents. I’m sure they would have suggested you wash your hair too; if they expected they would come in contact. But it wasn’t made for that purpose. Please keep it away.
- Do not use Rubbing Alcohol or ethanol-based sanitizers on your hair. Despite their germ-killing properties, sanitizers are meant for your hands not your hair! Please stick to your regular shampoos. Do not go overboard trying to be cautious. Shampoos will do the job just fine.
- Eat healthily. While quarantined you should have less access to unhealthy fast foods and more time to prepare better meals. Try to stock up on more fruits and vegetables and cook more balanced and healthier foods for yourself and lived ones. Good food means good health which means great hair.
- Stay active. Physical activity helps the body maintain itself and increases functionability. Improved bloodflow to the scalp will maintain the health of your hair and improve hairgrowth. It’s also a good distraction from being restricted to your house.
- Get some rest. Fatigue and overexertion is very bad for your body. Use this offtime to make up for the rest you’ve lost while working. Although, I encourage using 30 minutes to an hour of your day to workout, ensure you make room for some downtime. The body replenishes itself during this time, improving brain health and decreasing stress levels which can cause hairloss.
- Stay HYDRATED. This is so important because as they say water is life. Drink water even when you don’t feel like it because you need it. I could list all the benefits of water but we all know, that list would be too long. But if you are very hydrated it will show in your shiny, full and volumous hair and beards.

- Wash your hands often. I mentioned this in my previous post but I can’t stress it enough. COVID19 can survive on the hands for 10 minutes, ample time to be spread to your nose, mouth or eyes where it gets into the body and infects you. Wash your hands.
I am practicing these tips with you so that we can be healthy. Please keep clean, sanitized and safe.
